I was born in Mountain View and grew up in San Diego, where the coast wasn't just a view, it was a lifestyle. My days were spent soaking up the sun at La Jolla Shores, catching waves with friends, and crashing late-night coffee shops in Pacific Beach. After a full day of tanning and tacos, my girlfriends and I would pile into a car, hunt down wooden pallets behind industrial parks, and sneak them onto the sand for impromptu bonfires under the stars.
